Tell us about the Keen Coffee project.
At my previous job, Bonne and I were the head baristas and we were searching for a new partnership with a coffee roaster. We found Jan & Tosca, running a well-known Private Label roastery. At that time, we also competed with them at the Dutch BrewersCup for which they sourced and roasted the coffee. We experimented and tested the brews. We won the nationals, went to Gothenburg together and landed 5th place at the World Championships.
When space was limited for our ideas at our previous job, Jan & Tosca reached out to us to start something new and exciting. We brainstormed with lots of post-it on the wall, it was a rainbow of colors! After 6 months of hard work, we launched Keen Coffee at the Amsterdam Coffee festival. With our own stand, package, logo and beautiful coffees. During the A.C.F. we participated again at the Dutch BrewersCup and got first place for the second time! A pretty crazy achievement when looking back.
