What’s your opinion about the coffee community in The Netherlands?
The Netherlands is a small country and the specialty coffee scene is not that big. Lots of people know each other; roasters, baristas and importers. That’s good fun! We all are the ambassadors of specialty coffee and want to help promoting it.
I think the Dutch are natural entrepreneurs, we like to organize a lot of events, like latte art throw downs. But also, the championships like Aeropress and the Dutch SCAE championships help a lot to meet each other and make a thriving community. Because of all those events I think the specialty scene made a beautiful growth in the last 8 years.
And don’t forget the Amsterdam coffee festival that started 3 years ago, it helped a lot by promoting specialty coffee. Last year there were so many coffee parties each night, so that was a lot of fun to see and meet new coffee professionals.
Care este părerea ta despre comunitatea de cafea din Olanda?
Olanda este o ţară mică şi scena cafelei specialty nu este atât de mare. Mulţi oameni se cunosc între ei: prăjitori, barista şi importatori. Este foarte distractiv!
Suntem cu toţii ambasadori ai cafelei specialty şi vrem să ajutăm la promovarea ei. Cred că olandezii sunt antreprenori înnăscuţi, ne place să organizăm multe evenimente, precum demonstraţiile de latte art. De asemenea, campionatele precum Aeropress şi cele SCAE ne ajută să ne cunoaştem şi să formăm o comunitate prosperă. Datorită acestor evenimente cred că a cunoscut scena cafelei o creştere frumoasă în ultimii 8 ani.
Şi nu uitaţi festivalul din Amsterdam care a început acum 3 ani şi care a ajutat mult la promovarea cafelei specialty. Anul trecut au fost atât de multe petreceri în fiecare seară şi a fost foarte distractiv să îi vedem şi să-i cunoaştem pe profesioniştii din cafea.
