Cred că World of Coffee Expo de la Budapesta (2017) a fost experiența mea preferată de cafea până în prezent. Desigur, au existat câteva momente incredibile în viața mea, de la câștigarea unor competiții până la experiențe în antrenamente, ateliere și alte evenimente. Totuși, acest World of Coffee a fost prima dată când am participat la un eveniment de genul acesta unde am revăzut oameni pe care-i știam de la evenimentele anterioare de cafea, așa că pentru prima dată am simțit într-adevăr reuniunea cu familia din lumea cafelei, sau măcar o parte din ea. Budapesta a fost orașul perfect – era vară, orașul era plin de profesioniști din domeniu și dădeam peste foști concurenți mondiali pe aproape fiecare stradă. Și de parcă asta nu era de-ajuns, la after party-ul WOC, a fost unde l-am întâlnit pe viitorul meu soț, fapt ce a marcat începutul unui capitol important din viața mea.
Ce alte proiecte legate de cafea aveți pe care le puteți împărtăși cu noi?
În ultima vreme, am încercat să creez mai multă informație online pentru a împărtăși lumii cafelei și publicului larg câteva din cunoștințele mele. Am propriul meu site (nicolebattefeld.com) și am împărtășit recent o mulțime din rețetele mele preferate de cocktailuri cu cafea, precum și alte rețete de cocktail pe care le creez acasă.
Describe the most unforgettable coffee moment you’ve had.
I think that the World of Coffee Expo in Budapest (2017) was my favourite coffee experience to date. Of course, there have been some incredible moments in my life, from winning competitions to having experiences in trainings, workshops and other events. However, this World of Coffee event was the first time that I went to an event like this and knew people from previous coffee events, so for the first time it felt like I was meeting the coffee family, or part of it at least.
Budapest was the perfect city – it was summer, the city was full with coffee professionals and I just bumped into former world competitors on nearly every street. And to top it off, it was at the WOC after party event that I met my future husband and this was the start of a great chapter in my life.
What other projects related to coffee do you have that you can share with us?
Lately, I’ve been trying to create more online media to share with the coffee world and the general public. I have my own website (nicolebattefeld.com) and have recently been sharing a lot of my favourite coffee cocktail recipes, as well as random cocktail recipes I create at home. By sharing these recipes, I’m hoping to motivate others to get creative with the use of alcohol and coffee and maybe to inspire them to compete in future years.
Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 virus, I think I am not the only one whose plans got all mixed up; so at the moment my main projects are more about adapting to quarantine projects.
